From The Last Supper To Good Friday

20180228_170739.jpg

On a Thursday, Jesus and his disciples were having dinner or what we call the Last Supper. Not necessarily a Mexican meal, but some traditional dishes of their culture.

Anyway, at some point Jesus begun to speak and the shatter slowly diminished. By the time everyone’s eyes were on Jesus or on their plate before them, their ears tuned-in to Jesus’s voice. The words they heard were probably much like a parable to them.

The verses below, the words Jesus spoke, have been, are and will be deciphered and studied for ages to come. Each time, many will get encouraged, receive clarity and be rescued from the deceiver’s hands into Jesus’ arms.

18 “I am not referring to all of you; I know those I have chosen. But this is to fulfill this passage of Scripture: ‘He who shared my bread has turned[a] against me.’[b]

19 “I am telling you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe that I am who I am. 20 Very truly I tell you, whoever accepts anyone I send accepts me; and whoever accepts me accepts the one who sent me.”

21 After he had said this, Jesus was troubled in spirit and testified, “Very truly I tell you, one of you is going to betray me.”

22 His disciples stared at one another, at a loss to know which of them he meant.23 One of them, the disciple whom Jesus loved, was reclining next to him.24 Simon Peter motioned to this disciple and said, “Ask him which one he means.”

25 Leaning back against Jesus, he asked him, “Lord, who is it?”

26 Jesus answered, “It is the one to whom I will give this piece of bread when I have dipped it in the dish.” Then, dipping the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas,the son of Simon Iscariot. 27 As soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered into him.

So Jesus told him, “What you are about to do, do quickly.” 28 But no one at the meal understood why Jesus said this to him. 29 Since Judas had charge of the money, some thought Jesus was telling him to buy what was needed for the festival, or to give something to the poor. 30 As soon as Judas had taken the bread, he went out. And it was night.” John 13:18-30 NIV

Since I believe Jesus is the son of God, I try my hardest to follow his ways and to study his word. This passage tugs my heart to a stop, each time I read it. Intently, I listen to the Holy Spirit, to hear what he’s trying to help me understand, learn and see.

Today, God’s Holy Spirit helped my imagine. It was as if a portal opened and I stepped back in time for a story came alive in my mind. There I stood, in the room with the twelve disciples, Jesus and other servants ready to serve.

~~~~~~~~
Being the servant who poured the wine when Jesus comes, I step in the room and begin to fill the cups. This evening wasn’t out of the ordinary, but somehow we knew there was something special about tonight’s gathering.
As always, when Jesus begins to speak, we who serve hurry to finish our task and move out of sight.
All the servers were done and had taken their place. I still needed to pour the wine in Jesus cup. Since he had motion to fill the twelve cups first, I was left in an awkward place, I couldn’t walk away like I’ve done before. To not disturb his speaking, I walk behind him, which I’ve never done. until this evening.
About to pour the wine in Jesus cup, when I hear his words, “My Spirit is troubled.” Paralyzed, I remain knelt beside him and my hands trembled.
Jesus said, “. . . someone is going to betray me.”
My body weakened and Christ held me up, took my hands and helped me pour the wine in his cup.
In those eternal seconds, my soul was baptized in love and I began to cry. In spirit, I hear him tell me as he continued to speak. “Child of mine, it will all be fine. Be strong, console souls, hold them steady, like I’ve done to you.”
I scooted back and took my place. Tears trickled down my nose, as the word, “betray” rang loudly in my mind.
Then suddenly Judas ran out of the room. A silent heavy sorrow filled the atmosphere making it difficult for me to breathe. Not sure what else Jesus said for my spiritual lantern had been blown out. The only words, I kept from that night were, “Lift others. They’ll be shaken. Console their souls with His love.”
~~~~~~~~~~

In my present day, March 31st of 2018, I begin to think of the events between the betrayal Thursday and what we call Good Friday.

We, Christ followers, remember these events as if they all happened from Thursday, to Friday, to Sunday. But if we take time to refresh our minds and our hearts, we’ll recall from the betrayal night to the resurrection morning, difficult and trial-some days occurred.

Agony built for Christ and his followers. There wasn’t anything Good about Friday, not to them. For the servant girl who filled Jesus cup, will not be serving him wine any more. She lost the one who loved her soul. It would take time for her to understand his prophetic words. Even us today, still struggle to unfold all of what Jesus taught and meant.

Like his faithful followers who wrote the scriptures and the many others who kept Jesus’ love flowing, I too have been called to console souls with the love my soul has been baptized.

Jesus rose, was seen and spoke again. He speaks to us today through his word and his Holy Spirit. He wants for us to know not only about his love, but his forgiveness and his healing grace.

Today, he lifts me, steadies me, and walks with me. Without Christ, I would be hopelessly lost, unloved, and tattered. Not sure where, but somewhere, my face would be planted to the ground, too weak from a malnourished spirit, too crippled from a broken heart and too poor for my soul to live on. BUT!

Because of my Lord and savior’s love, I’m healed, forgiven and living to console souls. His love flows through my spirit, energizes my soul and gives me a purpose to live one day at a time. Thank you, Jesus, for your continual love for me and the world. I love you, my Savior.

Micro Bits Of Your Love

20180325_205302.jpg

They may seem like

micro events for others

But your acts of love

Are treasured in my heart

To recall when your gone

Tire you come home

With car keys in hand

You say, “Let’s go and

Set your cares free

Be relief and find peace.”

When you hold me

Your heartbeats ring

A triumphant melody

No words are needed

To know I’m safe with you

Honest words you speak

“Choose your movie

But please forgive me

If I fall asleep before you

I’ve had a challenging day”

At night, you kneel

By my side and pray

For the nightmare

Returned and stayed

Our child in trouble again

In the morning, I wake

your foot next to mine

I smile, you’ve remembered

What my heart need to know

I’m on your mind and in your heart

🔹️LOOK UP
If you follow the stream of sunlight, it will lead you to a black, boar bear (video). He’s sunbathing out of his den. Taken at Campbell Airstrip trails in Anchorage, Alaska on 3-25-18.

Knowing I would be having this Sunday afternoon to myself, (which meant find a place for pictures) I wondered, when do bears wake up. Well, the answer would be facing me soon enough, up a tree.

I dropped my husband at his martial arts training and off I went in search of a spot with people. And, I found one. Thinking it was safe, I got out of the car and about to go for a walk, but a Filipino lady with a camera and a huge lens caught my attention. After small talk about photography she said, “Bear there.” I looked every where, but I couldn’t find the bear.

I asked, “Where?”

She said, “There.”

After the fourth time of me looking for a bear and asking her where, she pointed up to the tree and said with a chuckle “There. You not see?”

It was at that point that the huge male bear popped into my view. He was up the tree sun bathing  (video) right outside his den.

The lady then said, “Go. Around tree and see. I went already.”

Which I quickly responded, “No thank you. I’m staying right here close to my car.”

Since I used my cell phone for pictures and chose life instead of being lunch, these are the best photos I took.

It’s always good to remember to look up, but especially now that the bears are waking. I’ve heard bears can climb up trees and seen videos, but never witness one live, until this day. This bear sat about thirty above the snowy ground. A female bear had dug a four to five feet whole inside the tree and made it their winter home last year.

Well, I won’t be exploring on this trip, since I was alone. Instead, I stayed and watched the bear with other photographers and curious people.

Some photographers did go around to the tree. I would say if the tree fell, the bear would probably be in their faces.

From walking around, not anywhere close to the pros, I learned to stay on the walked path. After the first new step I created and snow above my knee, I decided to place my foot on someone else’s footprint.

My courage and desire for a better picture grew. I took my digital camera and my phone and followed the path to the photographers, took photos, recorded, then I made my way back to the car.

The bear changed position and watched me leave. I said my goodbyes and put my nice camera away, started the car, but I didn’t leave after all.

As I buckled up myself to drive off, I saw the photographers running. I looked over to the tree, got my phone, unbuckled, opened the door and started recoding (video) and snapping pictures. Well, the bear came down took care of business, and ate some snow, took a short sprint, then went back up.

Without being a bit frantic, I drove away to tell this story.

Honestly, I was on cloud nine. Because, I was so glad and thankful that this spot caught my eye and I stopped to take pictures. There is definitely something wrong with me for I wasn’t afraid, but I was cautious. Anyway, I can actually say I saw a bear squat in the woods. 🤣

20180325_152445.jpg

Never ever do I ever want to be this close to a bear again, unless there are several photographers between the bear and me.

I sure do hope you enjoyed my adventure even though we didn’t really explored the woods, next time.

Why? I Don’t Know

I’m not sure why tree trunks have captivated me recently.

Maybe, because of their glistening colors at sunset.

IMG_20180327_144721_736.jpg

Or maybe, they impress me on how they endured the harsh winter weather.

What they needed to lose, their outer skin, and weak branches, were for them to be able to expand and grow.

IMG_20180327_144721_732.jpg
Besides the fallen branches were not strong enough to endure the snow, ice and winds.

Hum . . . maybe that’s why I experience losses this past season of life.

I need to let go and grow.

IMG_20180327_144721_734.jpg

Well, I’m ready to expand my horizon and shine with a smile when the sunsets come.

With God’s help, I will carry on.

Where Do You Fall When all Fails?

20180321_013027.jpg

WHEN ALL FAILS, I FAINT INTO HIS LOVING ARMS

When my head and heart are between blinding clouds; and my present day and future are beyond my understanding, I faint in the arms of the one who sustain me, my Lord Jesus Christ.

My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. Ps. 62:7

His promises fruition in my heart and are sent to my mind and joy does greet me in the morning.
Mornings aren’t always when the sun rises. They are the times when I totally relax in my Lord’s arms, trusting Him with all my needs, as I believe in God, who guards my soul, my spirit and my heart.

Granted Doesn’t Mean No Suffering

f20180324_141717.jpg

GRANTED DOESN’T MEAN FREE FROM SUFFERING ~ Yet let’s remain faithful in the mist of troubling times.

For you have been granted [the privilege] for Christ’s sake not only to believe in (adhere to, rely on, and trust in) Him, but also to suffer in His behalf.   Philippians 1:29 AMPC

Don’t Stand Alone

20180320_171033.jpg

ONE DOESN’T NEED TO STAND ALONE, EVEN THOUGH ONE MAY FEEL LONESOME.

Blessed (happy, to be envied) is the man who is patient under trial and stands up under temptation, for when he has stood the test and been approved, he will receive [the victor’s] crown of life which God has promised to those who love Him.

James 1:12 AMPC

With a community or friends to share one’s troubles, concerns, or trials, one can ask for prayers. Soon one will see, they don’t stand alone. Other hurting souls have come beside the one for they know how difficult it is to stand strong in the struggle.

Conversing With Self

Hurry! Go.  My soul whispered.

I rushed to where the fire danced and popped. It seemed unreal. Mesmerized, I squatted. In my mind, I stepped into the cozy hot coals. The bitter winter cold vanished even though the ruby-red flames contrasted against the grand gray snowy mountains around me.

Sounds from people, family and friend diminished. Mesmerized by the fluorescent red coals, I existed alone. While the fire burned, I listened within myself.

20171230_141545.jpg

Self: “It’s beautiful, isn’t it?”

Me: Yes, like a ruby melting and reforming. If only I could stay here and write.

Self: “What would you write about?”

Me: “I’m not sure, for I haven’t been able to continue writing my stories. Silent, they hang on the tips of the roof of my mind like ice-cycles. I’m afraid they will melt and vanish one day. I will be left with the knowledge that I once had unfinished stories.”

Self: “Why do you suppose, they are no longer speaking to you?”

Me: “Not sure. Many times, I’ve quiet myself and sat in front of my lap top and nothing, not one peep. The only sound I hear is of an unseen ocean with my beating heart out there drifting on a boat.”

Self: “Why have you distance your heart from your stories? What are you afraid of?”

Me: “I’ve not distant my heart, wait, do you think I did this? No, I didn’t place my heart out in the ocean.”

Self: “Lidia, be real. Be truthful. See, your heart. You are the only one who can place your heart out in the ocean. Look out there for the boat. Don’t look away. Your fear could be telling you truth. You are afraid of truth. That’s why you allowed your heart to drift from your stories.”

Me: “Fear lies.”

Self: “Not all fear lies. This fear of yours is true. You’re not a good writer. Yet you are a good story-teller. Focus on the story, Lidia, just like your friends tell you.”

Me: “I’m tired of not writing well. I want to have a well written story, but my enthusiasm dies too soon after I get started.”

Self: “You have to learn to keep writing when the energy of the idea runs out. Don’t allow your story to become foreign to your own heart. Keep it close to you, pluck scenarios, story lines, details, thoughts and feelings of the character even if they may never make into the story. You have to keep the story alive. That’s your job. It’s your baby. If you don’t feed it, it will vanish. Now, start the fire and allow your story ice-cycles to melt and flow again. You have been given a gift to tell stories like no one else. Write and let someone else correct your errors. You will not create a perfect story. No one can, not alone. But you can crank on your generator.”

Me: “But, my fingers won’t move.”

Self: “Yes, your finger and thoughts will be stiff because of the cold of not being perfect. But, in no time the heat will get going and your thoughts will flow the story will breath and pump red blood again. Once it thaws out, details will drop into your mind as the ice-cycle melts. Get the page ready to catch the ideas. Remember, as you keep telling stories, your writing will become stronger.”

Me: “Thank you, for the talk.”

Self: “Don’t worry, I will remind you again, when I see that you’ve removed your heart for your stories. You are not just writing for others, but for me, self.”

Footsteps crunched the snow behind me. I came back to my surroundings. I heard my husband distant voice, “Are you coming and sledding or are you staying.”

With a smile, I answered, “I’m coming.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~
I started this blog back in December, and it wasn’t until today that I was able to finish it. It’s a major accomplishment for me. I’ve struggled with my writing for over a year. There are at least twelve unfinished stories on my files and I can’t seem to finish any one of them. From this self-reflection, I’ve learned that it wasn’t fear that kept me from my stories, instead it was truth.
Writing my blog posts, have been a great exercise to build my confidence and improve my writing skills. With short entries, I have less misspell words, less grammar errors and less wrong word usage. I still get wordy, but my skills are improving alongside my belief in my abilities to give what’s in my heart a voice.
To write a book, it’s much more challenging and difficult than a blog. But, if I can treat each couple of pages as a blog post, I might get myself going again and finish my next book. Now which of the twelve stories should I start constructing again?
Maybe, I will blog about my journey as I write my next book.
To be continued . . .
Prayers Are Footprints
20180319_162403.jpg
PRAYERS FROM FRIENDS AND LOVE ONES ARE INVISIBLE STEPS ON THE TRAIL OF LIFE WHICH WE ARE ABOUT TO WALK ON.
AMONG THEM, IS A SET OF STEPS AHEAD OF THE PRAYERS, THEY BELONG TO JESUS THE LORD. FOR HE WENT AHEAD OF US TO PREPARE WHAT WE NEED.
CAN WE TRUST HIM WHEN HE’LL SAY,  “IT’S TIME, COME?”
